RCB vs DC, IPL 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s unbeaten run at home came to an end as Delhi Capitals won an absolute smash thanks to David Miller in the IPL 2026 match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 18. After losing their first home game of the season, it is also their first defeat at the venerable Chinnaswamy Stadium since the middle phase of IPL 2025.
RCB vs DC, IPL 2026: When was the last time Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost a game at Chinnaswamy Stadium?
It was in the rain-shortened IPL 2025 match against the Punjab Kings when the Royal Challengers last suffered defeat in their backyard and that happened exactly a year ago. In a 14-over shootout due to rain showers, the hosts managed just 95. In response, the Punjab Kings got over the line with five wickets remaining and chased down the target in 12.1 overs. The defending champions began their IPL 2026 season with a comprehensive win over SunRisers Hyderabad and also comfortably defeated Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.

It was Capitals captain Axar Patel who won the toss and sent the defending champions fielding. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt started brilliantly again, reaching a 52-run stand which was broken by Lungi Ngidi, dismissing the former for 19. Nevertheless, Phil Salt reached his second half-century of the season before failing on 63 off 38 deliveries. But the remaining RCB batters struggled, with only Tim David getting past 20 as the Capitals bowled superbly at the death, barely allowing the Royal Challengers to score big overs. Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel picked up two wickets to restrict the hosts to 175/8 in 20 overs.
The Capitals started their chase in terrible fashion as Pathum Nissanka (1), Karun Nair (5) and Sameer Rizvi (2) were lost cheaply. But KL Rahul, along with Tristan Stubbs, restored a semblance of control with a 69-run stand. Krunal Pandya broke the stand by sending Rahul for 57, but the Capitals found another 47-run partnership between Stubbs and Axar Patel.
After Axar came off the ground due to cramps, the Royal Challengers felt the blood and ran out of bounds. At the end of the final round there were only 15 left. Despite some excellent deliveries, David Miller managed to clear the fence twice and secure victory.
