Try WordPress 7.0 Beta and a One-Click Fix for Plugin Errors

Over the last two weeks, we’ve opened the WordPress 7.0 beta for business and commerce sites, made it easier for you to troubleshoot plugin errors, and made our support center easier to navigate.

Try WordPress 7.0 before it ships

WordPress 7.0 is on the way and if you have a Business or Commerce plan, you can test the beta now on your live and/or staging site.

Visit Websites → Your website → Settings → Server → WordPressand select the beta version from the drop-down list.

WordPress.com automatically backs up your site before versioning, keeps your site up to date as new betas are released, and allows you to switch back to a stable version at any time from the same settings panel.

Security

If a plugin breaks your website, you can fix the problem with one click

If a plugin causes a fatal error on your WordPress.com site, you are no longer left with a blank screen with no way out.

Site owners will now see an error page indicating which plugin caused the issue and providing a one-click solution Disable Click the button that works even if the website doesn’t load normally to disable the problematic plugin before it can run again.

In the meantime, your website visitors will see a clear apology – no technical details, no alarm.

Support

Navigate our support center using the Support Assistant

When you use the search bar in our Support Center, Support Assistant will now launch by default for logged in and logged out users. Chat can provide answers to your specific questions, highlight helpful support resources, and connect you with one of our incredible Happiness Engineers if you need further assistance.

Corrections and improvements

We’ve also deployed additional reliability and polish updates on WordPress.com, including:

  • Adding an explicit confirmation screen when connecting your WordPress.com account to Telegram.
  • Prevent survey pop-ups from appearing while Help Center is open so they don’t compete for your attention.
  • Allow customers to start a free trial with UPI.
