An ambulance had to be brought to the ground as he had to be carried on a stretcher due to his serious injury, causing alarm among all players, staff and spectators at the chaotic scenes in the stadium.

The incident occurred in the third over of the innings bowled by Axar Patel. When Priyansh Arya resigned, he missed the timing. The South African cricketer ran back from the middle and misjudged the catch as it went over his head. During the descent, the sailor suffered a severe blow to the head with his right arm and was soon unable to move. A few moments later, the ambulance had to be driven into the ground, with medical staff applying a neck brace.

DC vs PBKS, IPL 2026: How did Lungi Ngidi fare in this edition?
Ngidi, one of the key bowlers in the Capitals ranks, took seven wickets in the six innings he bowled using his subtle variations, particularly the slower ball. However, the 30-year-old will not be able to take part in the game due to the head injury.
Meanwhile, the Capitals put up a powerful batting performance to post the highest total of IPL 2026 at 264/2, thanks to KL Rahul’s record-breaking and unbeaten 152. The Karnataka-born cricketer shared a 220-run stand with Nitish Rana, who scored 91 off 44 deliveries. Notably, Rahul was given a reprieve by Shashank Singh when he was on 12, costing the Punjab Kings another 140 runs.
At the time of writing, the Punjab Kings needed 62 runs in the last five overs with Shreyas Iyer and Shashank at the crease. Their openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh scored 116 in the powerplay, making it the second-highest six-over score in IPL history. Prabhsimran also hit six boundaries in one over against Mukesh Kumar.
