The state government has ordered complete closure of bars and liquor shops across Tamil Nadu on April 23. All establishments operating under licenses FL2 to FL11 (except FL6) have been ordered to remain closed from 10 a.m. on April 21 until the end of the election on April 23.
Officials have also confirmed that a similar closure will be enforced on May 4, the day votes are counted. Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against any violation related to sale, storage or transportation of liquor under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937.

Banks across Tamil Nadu will remain closed on Election Day, impacting branch services to customers. However, financial institutions have confirmed that ATM services are operating normally and cash withdrawals and deposits are uninterrupted.
At the same time, there will be no disruptions in digital banking for customers. Net banking, mobile banking and UPI based transactions remain fully functional throughout the day ensuring seamless financial access.

All government and private schools in the state will remain closed on April 23. The decision ensures that teaching and non-teaching staff engaged in election duty can easily participate in the election process.
